Justin Bieber joined Ariana Grande during her set at the Coachella festival on Sunday (21Apr19) for his first performance in a year.

After performing hits including God Is a Woman, 7 Rings, and Side to Side, Ariana introduced Justin towards the end of her headline gig by stating, “I wasn’t going to bring out any guests tonight. But my friend Justin Bieber came all the way out.”

The pair, who both appear on Lil Dicky’s new single Earth, also joined forces to sing his 2015 hit Sorry towards the end of her set at Coachella’s second weekend.

Justin, who hasn’t performed his own material live since 2017, told fans he had got his “swag back” despite not planning to perform at the event.

“I haven’t been on stage in like two years,” the 25-year-old commented. “I came out here, I had no idea that I was gonna be on this stage tonight, absolutely no idea. I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was going to be on stage.”

The popstar, who earlier this month announced he was “bouncing back” after a “challenging” time in his life due to mental health issues, also hinted he is ready to fully commit himself to music again by telling fans a new album is “coming soon”.
In July 2017, he abruptly cancelled the last 14 dates of his Purpose world tour, citing personal problems.

The Love Yourself hitmaker was first spotted at the event at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on Saturday, watching teenage pop sensation Billie Eilish with his wife, Hailey Bieber.

Following her surprise duet with Justin, Ariana, 25, closed her set with her emotional hit No Tears Left to Cry, the first single she released following the deadly terrorist attack on her concert in Manchester, England in May 2017. The following month, Justin joined her in Manchester for a charity concert raising funds for survivors and the families of the 22 people who died in the bombing.
