Justin Bieber Takes Plea Deal For DUI

Justin Bieber has reportedly agreed a plea deal in his Miami DUI case.

Earlier this year the 20-year-old singer was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license while in the American city. A hearing for the case is scheduled today, during which it’s been claimed the terms of Justin’s agreement with police will be set out.

According to Miami Herald, Justin will plead guilty to careless driving and resisting an officer without violence, but the DUI charge will be dropped.

The Canadian singer will be handed 12 hours of anger management classes and will be allowed to take them in private to prevent them turning into a media circus. He’s also going to be ordered to watch videos of those affected by DUI, will have to pay court fines, and give $50,000 to charity.

Miami-Dade County Judge Bill Altfield will apparently preside over the case and Justin won’t attend, so his lawyers will enter his plea.

In June TMZ claimed Justin was close to agreeing a deal and even mentioned the anger management classes. However, it suggested he would plead guilty to reckless driving and nothing else and also hinted the deal had taken a while to be reached because police wanted Justin to record a public service announcement but he wasn’t keen.

It’s been claimed that after Justin was arrested in Miami he told police he’d smoked marijuana and taken prescription medication, thought to be Xanax. However, his blood alcohol was below the allowed limit and in a video of him at the station he didn’t seem intoxicated.

This is the second case the star has had to settle recently. Last month he pleaded no contest to causing damage to his Californian neighbour’s home by egging it and was put on probation for two years, plus told to go to anger management classes, do community service and give the neighbour compensation.
