Blue Sky Riders, the group formed two years ago by Kenny Loggins, Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman, are ready to record their second album and they would like fan’s help.

The band released their debut, Finally Home, in 2013, garnering them critical praise and a new fan base. For their followup, they want to make fans “part of [our] musical journey.”

According to Loggins, the band has turned to Kickstarter not only to get funds to make the album but to also “to connect directly with the folks who love music enough to support its creation. As a band, we’ve come up with some cool ways to get you more involved: everything from your ideas for T-shirts to helping us name the new album.

“I believe that the way music is made and shared has fundamentally changed, and I love where it’s heading. Gary, Georgia and I created our own label to release our first album in 2013. With the rise of Crowd Funding, I’ve realized that there is one more step to be taken towards the ultimate realization of an artist’s dream – direct connection with our audience! Your assistance will allow my bandmates and I to create new music that reflects our vision. In short, we need and want your help.”

While Blue Sky Riders will accept any amount of money, they have established rewards at certain levels. $5 will get a download of the first single while $15 gets the whole album when it is released. Other levels include access to a streamed complete performance of the album (plus a physical copy of the CD) at $100 to contributing a guest vocal on a track ($1,200) and a concert by the band in your home.

Leo Sayer Shares His Thoughts on The Passing of Sly Stone

There really is a riot going on right now, so what a poignant moment it seems to be to lose a hero I never met, yet a man I often imagined as my soul brother. I worked with many of his alumni (including the man who helped invent him, fellow San Fran disk jockey Tom Donahue), and to say they and he inspired me would be a useless understatement.
