Kim Shattuck of The Muffs has died at age 56 after a two year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Kim was the lead singer and guitarist for The Muffs. The Muffs released their first EP in 1991 with a self-titled album coming in 1993. While the band was considered an alternative band their commercial break through came with their cover of Kim Wilde’s ‘Kids In America’ for the movie Clueless.

The Muffs went into hiatus after their 1999 album ‘Happy Birthday To Me’, returning in 2004 for a fifth ‘Really Really Happy’.

A new album ‘No Holiday’ is just a few weeks away.

On Facebook friend and former bandmate Melanie Vammen said “her heart was broken” and reposted an Instagram post from Kim’s husband Kevin Suth.
