Chris Cornell has performed a haunting version of Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ for Sirius XM in the USA.

Prince wrote ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ for his side-project The Family. The original version appeared in the 1985 album ‘The Family Album’ by The Family.

The song remained obscure until Sinead O’Connor covered it for her 1990 album ‘I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got’. Her version went to number one in Australia, USA and The UK.

In March this year Sinead announced that she would retire the song from her setlist/ She performed it for the last time in Budapest, Hungary on April 21, 2015.

Prince released a live version of the song with Rosie Gaines on this 1993 compilation ‘The Hits’.

Chris Cornell has just re-issued his debut solo album under the name it was originally intended ‘Euphoria Mourning’.
