Mary J. Blige Mouths Off At ‘Haters’ On Twitter

Mary J. Blige had some harsh words for her haters on Twitter following criticism of her interview teaser with presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

Mary J. Blige was ridiculed online on Tuesday after a clip of her interview with the former First Lady as part of her new Apple Music show The 411 With Mary J. Blige was released.

In the promo, she is seen crooning Bruce Springsteen’s hit American Skin (41 Shots), which refers to police brutality and holding Clinton’s hand, but Mary wasn’t impressed by the backlash she received from it.

She fired back at her critics on Twitter, writing, “EVERYBODY SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!” followed by a megaphone emoji and the hashtags, “#takethat #Haters #crabinabarrel #simpleminded #411.”

However, she proved she wasn’t afraid to poke fun at herself by sharing a parody video of her chat on Twitter too. The parody has been edited with a voiceover by Gary with da’ Tea, who says what he thinks Clinton is thinking during Mary’s song.

For example, he says, “Is she trying to be shady or not?” and “Oh my God, she’s grabbing my hand…”

During the clip, the R&B star sings, “If an officer stops you always be polite, and never ever run away. Promise momma you’ll keep your hands inside. Is it a gun? Is it a knife? Is it a wallet? This is your life. It ain’t no secret. It ain’t no secret, no secret my friend. You can get killed just for living in your American skin.”

One Twitter user wrote, “Who knew you could fit so much embarrassment into one minute,” while another added, “If Trump wins it’s absolutely Mary J Blige’s fault.”

The full interview, promoted as an “intimate conversation”, is released on Friday (30Sep16).

Sammy Hagar has always had a reputation for surrounding himself with powerhouse players, but his upcoming live album, Sammy Hagar & The Best Of All Worlds Band – The Residency (out October 10, 2025 via Big Machine Rock), brings a distinctly Australian twist. On keyboards, vocals and guitar is Rai Thistlethwayte, best known at home for fronting Thirsty Merc and more recently as a member of The Fabulous Caprettos.
