MEMO Music Hall to kick off local acts with Summer Sounds of St Kilda in January

Kim Salmon, Alma Ziegler, Hugo Race and Deborah Byrne will be able to walk to walk for their January gigs. MEMO Music Hall in St Kilda will be featuring the locals throughout January with its Summer Sounds of St Kilda series.

MEMO Music Hall’s Simon Myers came up with the concept for the areas local acts can be seen by locals. “The program is going to have a very informal feel, the idea is you can come in off the beach and check out “a local” playing at MEMO or The Ember Lounge and enjoy a beer without having to spend “a motza”.”

Summer Sounds of St Kilda acts are:

8 January, Paul Williamson’s Hammond Combo
9 January, Brooke Taylor and Jess Parker
10 January, Silver Fox Social round 3 with Cornerstone featuring Debra Byrne
13 January, Hugo Race + Mikelangelo Russo + Sean Simmons & Bronwyn Henderson of The Spoils
18 January, A Whale Called Phoenix with Delsinki and The Lagerphones
19 January, Bernadette Novembre and Alma Ziegler
23 January, The Acland Street Express
24 January, Jack Howard Light Heavy Weight record launch
25 January, Kim Salmon and Harry Howard & the NDE

and special guest inclusion …

26 January, Deitra Farr and The Redeemers with Lily & King

Live Music Ticket Prices Reshape Global Concert Industry As Australia Faces ‘FOMO Economy’

by Paul Cashmere The cost of seeing live music has transformed dramatically over the past four decades, with arena and stadium concert ticket prices now outpacing inflation at a rate few other entertainment sectors can match. In the mid-1980s, a major concert ticket typically cost between $12 and $15. In 2026, premium tickets for the world's biggest tours regularly exceed $500, while VIP packages can stretch beyond $1,000. The shift has fundamentally changed not only the economics of touring, but also the behaviour of audiences in Australia, North America and Europe.
