In sentencing Judge Michael Pastor called Murray’s use of drugs “medicine madness” and said he “violated his sworn obligation for money, fame, prestige.”

The Jackson family responded with the statement, “The Bible reminds us that men cannot do justice, they can only seek justice. That is all we ask as a family, and that is all we ask here. We are not here to seek revenge. There is nothing you can do today that will bring Michael back”.

In June 2009, Michael Jackson was rehearsing for his 50-date ‘This Is It’ London residency when he died a victim of a drug overdose at the hands of Conrad Murray.

Murray administered the drug Propofol into Jackson. The drug is only meant to be used in hospitals and under supervision but is not used for sleeping problems. The court heard how Murray gave Jackson the drug on the morning of his death and then left the room.

Jackson hired Murray exclusively for a fee of $150,000 a month.

The court noted that Murray blamed everyone but himself for the singer’s death.

His mother was present in the courtroom when the sentence was handed down.
