Neil Young and Tame Impala Name-Checked In Family Guy

Both Neil Young and Tame Impala were treated to a Family Guy zinger this week in a joke around Coachella and millennials.

A millennial hipster is seen showing Peter around Coachella. “A rite of passage for any Millennial is attending Coachella,” he says. “It is a great place to see bands who are either really new or really old. On the main stage is Tame Impala who formed in an Uber-pool on the way here and on the side-stage its Neil Young asleep in front of the television”.

Neil also gets an addition grilling with a reference to a cat.

For Tame Impala though, a Family Guy mention is a badge of honour. Being name-checked in the show is recognition that the writers place consider the Perth band to have a cultural significance.

Tame Impala formed in Perth in 2007. Their most recent album ‘Currents’ reached no 4 in the USA.
