Rihanna Dedicates Diamonds To Nice Victims

Rihanna honoured the victims of the Nice terror attack by dedicating her song Diamonds to them at her concert on Sunday night.

Rihanna was due to perform in the French city on Friday but she cancelled the show after at least 84 people were killed there in an attack on Thursday evening when Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a lorry into a crowd celebrating the country’s national Bastille Day holiday.

Rihanna’s Anti world tour resumed in Frankfurt, Germany, on Sunday and she paid tribute to the victims and their families ahead of her song Diamonds, according to social media reports.

Video footage posted online also shows her asking the audience in the Commerzbank-Arena to light up their phones to fill the venue with “stars”.

She said, “I feel so blessed that we could make it to Frankfurt tonight so in light of those recent events, I’d really like you guys to help me out with a little bit of stars, give me some flash light, give me anything… just make in here look real beautiful right now.”

She shared a video from her Diamonds performance on Instagram after the show and wrote in the caption, “#FRANKFURT I’m so in love with you!!! I wish every night of my life could feel like tonight!!! Thank you for taking me away!!! #ANTIWORLDTOUR”

Rihanna had previously used the song to honour late singer Prince following his death in April. She performed in Calgary, Canada on the day he died and told the crowd, “A lot of us have started making music and listening to music because of Prince, so right now I just wanna honour him, me and my crew, and you guys. Let’s shine some light to heaven for Prince right now.”

Rihanna was in Nice at the time of the attack and her representative issued a statement to assure fans she was safe.
