Rihanna Turned On By Culture

Rihanna doesn’t have time to stroke a guy’s ego and be in a relationship, preferring to focus on her family and music.

The singer revealed the title and cover work of her new album Anti last week (ends09Oct15). With so much going on in her career she hasn’t got time for a man or a relationship.

“Guys need attention; they need that nourishment, that little stroke of the ego that gets them by every now and then,” she explained to the New York Times’ T Magazine. “I’ll give it to my family, I’ll give it to my work — but I will not give it to a man right now.”

Rihanna had an infamous on-off relationship with fellow musician Chris Brown for years and has more recently been linked to Leonardo DiCaprio and Travis Scott. But while she seems to be single at the moment, she did reveal what she looks for in a man when she is in the mood to date.

“I’m turned on by guys who are cultured,” she explained. “That’ll keep me intrigued. They don’t have to have a single degree, but they should speak other languages or know things about other parts of the world or history or certain artists or musicians. I like to be taught.”

The star admitted that it’s hard to find a potential partner who isn’t intimidated by her.

As well as her music career Rihanna also has multiple endorsements and business deals, but even after all her years in the industry she still feels like she has something to prove.

“You know, when I started to experience the difference — or even have my race be highlighted — it was mostly when I would do business deals,” she explained. “And, you know, that never ends, by the way. It’s still a thing. And it’s the thing that makes me want to prove people wrong. It almost excites me; I know what they’re expecting and I can’t wait to show them that I’m here to exceed those expectations.”
