Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock legend Ross Wilson had a bit of fun acting opposite his step-daughter Olympia Valance on Neighbours. His classic line was “My own kids don’t even know my songs”.

Olympia played Paige Smith in Neighbours from 2014 and left the show last week. Her sister Holly Valance played Flick Scully in the show between 1999 and 2002.

Ross Wilson played himself in the show where he performed his DC classic ‘Eagle Rock’.

Paige: I am so sorry. I didn’t know who you were until Clive told me so I didn’t know any of your songs. No offence.

Ross: None taken. My won kids don’t even know my songs.

‘Eagle Rock’ was a number one song in Australia in 1971. During his 1972 Australian tour was so impressed with the song after hearing it for the first time that it inspired him to write ‘Crocodile Rock’. On the covers of Elton John’s ‘Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player’, ‘Tumbleweed Connection’ and ‘Honky Chateau’ Bernie Taupin is wearing a ‘Daddy Who?’ badge.

The video for ‘Eagle Rock’ was shot in Clarendon St, South Melbourne and at the Aussie Burger Bar in St Kilda where the McDonalds at the roundabout is now situated. The live shots are from the 1971 Myponga Festival in South Australia from 1971.

Ross will tour Mondo Rock in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in June.

Dates are:

June 8 and 9, Melbourne, The Palms
June 15, Sydney, Enmore Theatre
June 16, Brisbane, The Tivoli
