RY X has released “Holy Water”, the first single from his fourth studio album DUSK, ahead of the orchestral headline performances in Melbourne and Sydney for July 2027.

Australian singer-songwriter and producer RY X has released “Holy Water” today, September 10, 2026, providing the first music from his forthcoming fourth studio album, DUSK. The album is scheduled for release in early 2027, while RY X has confirmed two Australian headline concerts for July 2027, at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall and the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
“Holy Water” establishes the musical setting for DUSK through atmospheric production and poetic imagery. The song includes the lines “Holy waters / Bodies filled with sound / Feels like God is / Caught in the light we found”, continuing the sparse, intimate approach that has characterised much of RY X’s solo catalogue.
The release also gives Australian audiences a first opportunity to hear music from the album ahead of the two announced homecoming performances. RY X, the professional name of Ry Cuming, will perform with orchestra at Hamer Hall in Melbourne on Wednesday, July 14, 2027, followed by the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Monday, July 19.
The two concerts will be presented by Frontier Touring. They represent the first Australian dates announced in connection with DUSK, and will place RY X’s music in two of Australia’s principal concert-hall environments.
The orchestral format is consistent with an important strand of RY X’s performance history. Over the past decade, he has worked with ensembles including the London Contemporary Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Deutsches Kammerorchester in Berlin, Münchner Rundfunkorchester and Brussels Philharmonic Soloists.
Those collaborations have taken his music into venues including Konzerthaus Berlin, the Barbican, Royal Albert Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall and St Paul’s Cathedral. In 2023, he performed with the London Contemporary Orchestra at St Paul’s Cathedral.
DUSK follows RY X’s previous studio album, Blood Moon, released in June 2022. That record continued a recording career built around electronic textures, acoustic instrumentation and an understated vocal delivery. Cuming recorded, produced and engineered most of Blood Moon himself at his home studio in Topanga.
The new album will be RY X’s fourth studio release. His previous solo albums are Dawn, released in 2016, and Unfurl, released in 2019, following his 2010 debut album, Ry Cuming.
Before establishing RY X as his principal solo identity, Cuming developed several collaborative projects. He became a member of The Acid with Adam Freeland and Steve Nalepa, with the group releasing Liminal in 2014. He also formed Howling with Frank Wiedemann, resulting in the album Sacred Ground.
His catalogue has extended into writing and production collaborations with artists including Drake, Diplo, Black Coffee and John Legend. In 2016, he received a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording for “Only”, in remixes by Kaskade and Lipless.
RY X’s best-known solo recordings include “Berlin”, “Only”, “All I Have”, “Salt”, “Sweat”, “Let You Go”, “YaYaYa” and “Oceans”. “Berlin”, originally released as the title track of his 2013 EP, became an international breakthrough and was later covered by Sam Smith.
Cuming began writing music as a teenager after discovering Jeff Buckley’s Grace, with Pearl Jam also cited among his early influences. His career subsequently developed across singer-songwriter, electronic, dance and orchestral music.
The release of “Holy Water” now begins the next phase of that catalogue, with DUSK scheduled for early 2027. For Australian audiences, the Melbourne and Sydney performances will follow several months later, with tickets to the two concerts going on sale this week.
