Sheppard ‘Geronimo’ has sold over 147,000 downloads in Australia which now qualifies the song for a double platinum ARIA certification.

Geronimo was one of the later songs written for the upcoming Sheppard album. “In its initial form it started about a year ago but we didn’t finish it until a month ago,” songwriter Jay Bovino tells Nosie11.com. “We were pretty excited. We wrote it in about an hour and when we finished we thought we need to start playing this right now. we did feel like there was something special about it. we spent 12 days in total in the studio on it but only two on ‘Let Me Down Easy’”.

Sheppard are now putting the finishing touches on their debut album. “We are aiming for the end of June, early July at the latest. Its almost ready to go,” Amy Sheppard says. “We are in the final stages of mastering, so final touches and artwork. We really can’t wait to get it out”.

The band had a arsenal of songs to choose from for the album. “It’s almost like a combination of songs we have written for three years now,” Amy adds. “We are really keen to get them out. We have written and recorded over 30 songs. On the album there will be 10 or 11 of what we feel are the best. I think we’ve made a good choice. They are catchy but a little bit more mature than ‘Let Me Down Easy’”.

At the end of last week ‘Geronimo’ had sold 147,709 downloads making it the biggest selling Australia release of 2014 to date so far this year.
