Stephen Colbert Signs Off With Everyone In The World Singing We’ll Meet Again

Stephen Colbert has concluded with an all-star ‘We’ll Meet Again’ featuring everyone from Michael Stipe and Willie Nelson to Bill Clinton and astronauts at the space station.

You may need to watch the video a few times to spot all of the celebs including Cyndi Lauper and Peter Frampton, Barry Manilow, Patrick Stewart, George Lucas, Jeff Tweedy and The Newsroom stars Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterson.

Stephen then grabs his Captain American shield before he is whisked away in a sleigh by Santa Claus with President Abraham Lincoln (who really is a unicorn) and game show host Alex Trebek.

Colbert ended his nine-year run as host of the Colbert Report with what appeared to also be the killing off of the Colbert character before he talks over the Late Show from David Letterman in 2015.

The Colbert Report started as an extension of John Stewart’s The Daily Show in 2005. The show was initially a parody of the right-winged Fox News presenters like Bill O’Rielly but in time the Colbert character developed into a life of its own.

Stephen Colbert will take over The Late Show from David Letterman in May 20, 2015.

Elvis Costello's obscure 1970s demo "Jump Up" was never a hit, never a single and rarely played live, yet it became one of the most discussed songs of the final episode of Stephen Colbert's Late Show. The track's political satire, its unusual history and Colbert's long-standing affection for the song explain why an overlooked recording resurfaced for television's farewell moment.

Jimmy Kimmel’s return to late-night television after his brief suspension became more than just another monologue, it turned into a pointed commentary on free speech, political intimidation, and the precarious position of comedy in today’s America. His remarks touched on three main themes: the role of Disney and ABC in his suspension and reinstatement, the political pressure exerted by Donald Trump and his allies, and his own reflections on what free expression means in a democracy.
