Stevie Wonder has welcomed his ninth child.

The 64-year-old music icon now shares two children with his girlfriend Tomeeka Robyn Bracy, who gave birth to a baby girl.

His representative confirmed that Stevie’s new daughter is named Nia, however her birthdate wasn’t specified. Nia’s moniker means purpose, “one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa”, the spokesperson told Us Weekly. Kwanzaa is a week long celebration of African heritage, which begins December 26 and ends January 1 annually.

Stevie revealed Tomeeka was expecting during an interview on U.S. daytime talk show The View last month.

The Songs in the Key of Life hitmaker joked about having so many offspring to look after.

“I got, how many, 22 kids? It’s not true,” the father-of-nine laughed. “The truth is we’re going to have a wonderful daughter, born in December, [and her] name is going to be Nia, which is ‘purpose.'”

Stevie has been divorced twice and is father to seven children from previous relationships.

He’s won a staggering 22 Grammys during his long career and is known the world over thanks to his iconic songs, such as Happy Birthday and Isn’t She Lovely.

Stevie recently spoke about how being blind impacts his songwriting process. “I am consumed by music… I can see music,” he told the UK version of GQ magazine. “Each instrument has its own colour. It’s like a puzzle and when I fit all the pieces together, that’s my high.

“I’m not a normal man – never have been. The more I accept that, the better I feel. I’m a work in progress.”
