Tex Perkins Clocks Up 10 Years With Johnny Cash Show The Man In Black

Tex Perkins has with the Johnny Cash story in ‘The Man In Black – The Songs and Story of Johnny Cash’ earned a Helpmann Award and played to sell-out shows all over Australia.

Tex Perkins will re-tell the Cash story to mark his 10 years with the tale starting in Melbourne on 23 August and playing 10 shows across Australia through to Brisbane on 5 October.

“I love this show,” he says. “I’ve loved being in it for the last 10 years and having the opportunity of putting on the boots of a legend, exploring the world of Johnny Cash. Even though it’s all about Johnny Cash, I’ve put a lot of myself into this show, intentionally and unintentionally. Despite us winning a Helpmann in the first 12-months of life, the show I truly believe, 10 years on is even better!”

In the 10 years since he started performing ‘Man In Black’ Tex has released three albums with Dark Horses, a best of ‘Songs from My Black Cattle Dog’, another Tex, Don & Charlie album with Don Walker and Charlie Owen and The Beasts ‘Still Here’ this year.

The Man In Black shows will feature Rachel Tidd for the June Carter Cash parts.
