The Libertines will perform shows for Sydney and Melbourne in Australia in 2018. It will be the first time the UK band has played in Australia.

Carl Barat and Pete Doherty formed The Libertines in London in 1997. Their second album ‘The Libertines nabbed them a number one spot on the UK charts and sold platinum as Doherty’s drug problems became front page news.

The band dissolved in 2004 as the band were selling songs like ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’, a song about the breakdown of Barat/Doherty relationship.

The Libertines disappeared for the next five years. Barat and Doherty had no contact with each other until 2010 when the band reformed for the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

In 2015 they recorded a third album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ and released the song ‘Gunga Din’. It failed to make the Top 100 in the UK.
