Bono has said how U2 has ‘lost a family member’ following the death of their tour manager.

Dennis Sheehan was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room on Wednesday morning. The 69-year-old has worked closely with the Irish rockers since 1982 and lead singer Bono was quick to share his sorrow with fans.

‘We’ve lost a family member, we’re still taking it in,” he said in a statement on the band’s website. “He wasn’t just a legend in the music business, he was a legend in our band. He is irreplaceable.”

Dennis was pronounced dead at the Sunset Marquis Hotel early Wednesday morning after paramedics were called to his hotel room for a reported cardiac arrest.

His passing came just hours after the With or Without You singers finished the first of five concerts at The Forum just a few hours before.

‘With profound sadness we confirm that Dennis Sheehan, U2’s longstanding tour manager and dear friend to us all, has passed away overnight,” LiveNation CEO of global touring Arthur Fogel said in a statement. “Our heartfelt sympathy is with his wonderful family.”

The group is in the middle of the North American leg of its Innocence + Experience Tour, which launched May 14.

Before Dennis’ death was confirmed, the band posted a poster promoting its concert in Los Angeles on its Facebook page. It’s prompted fans to comment and question whether or not shows would be cancelled in the wake of his passing.

In addition to his long running commitment to the Irish band, Dennis had also worked with Led Zeppelin, Patti Smith and Lou Reed.
