Jimmy Barnes’ bestseller Working Class Boy has been made into a film.

The Working Class Boy film was directed by Mark Joffe. Joffe has brought to the screen the stories from the first book with Jimmy telling the brutally honest story of his upbringing.

‘Working Class Boy’ made Jimmy Barnes a bestselling author in Australia. It took the story up to the start of Cold Chisel. The second book ‘Working Class Man’ continued the story from Chisel to present day.

According to the filmmaker, “Jimmy’s honesty and inimitable sense of humour create an emotional and compelling film of a damaged childhood, a broken family, a search for love and, finally, a genuine redemption”.

As Jimmy explains in the film, “I was born James Dixon Swan. This is the story of how I became Jimmy Barnes’.

‘Working Class Boy’ will premiere in Australian cinemas on August 23, 2018.
