Simon Le Bon Praises Boy George Job On The Voice

Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon thinks Boy George is a great signing for The Voice UK.

The TV talent contest sees singing wannabes blind audition for a panel of esteemed judges, with the famous mentors unable to see what the performer looks like. The US version boasts the likes of Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani in the judging seats, but the British edition is just as impressive. For 2016, Culture Club legend Boy George and British singer Paloma Faith have joined the line up, alongside will.i.am and Kaiser Chief singer Ricky Wilson.

“George is an amazing personality – he is so sharp and funny,” Simon gushed to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper. “I can see why they would want him.

“I know he’s Culture Club but he’s also a solo artist and solo artists don’t have to explain it to the rest of the band, or tell them not to do it!”

As for 57-year-old Simon’s own TV aspirations, he admits he doesn’t really harbour any. Simon Cowell has previously approached him to join The X Factor UK, but the Girls on Film singer says his loyalty still lies with Duran Duran.

“I think there’s something great about being in a band still and I don’t want to be a TV personality and certainly not on a musical game show or reality show,” he sighed. “I’d hate it if my bandmates were on one of those shows and I’m sure they would feel the same way.”

Duran Duran dominated the charts in the ’80s, reuniting in 2001 for a second stab at fame. The band counts Lindsay Lohan as a fan, with the flame-haired actress joining them on stage In December (15) at a London date for their Paper Gods tour. Lindsay also provided vocals for track Danceophobia.
