Billy Idol is officially an American citizen.

62-year old William Broad was born in Stanmore, UK in 1955. In the 70s he was part of the British punk movement fronting the band Generation X before going solo.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services tweeted the news “ “It’s a nice day for a naturalization ceremony.”

Billy Idol’s first success was with Generation X.

Idol went solo in 1981 and had his first hit with his third single ‘Hot in the City’.

‘White Wedding’ gave Billy his first top 10 hit anywhere in the world out of Australia and New Zealand.

Billy Idol has had 16 Top 40 hits in Australia and nine in the USA.

His biggest US hit was ‘Mony Mony’ (no 1, 1987). His biggest Australian hit was ‘To Be A Lover’ (no 3, 1986).

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
