Bob Dylan To Return To Australia And New Zealand In August

in News

Bob Dylan, one of the world’s true music legends, will tour Australia and New Zealand in August, 2018.

This will be the 11th Bob Dylan Australian tour. Dylan was last in Australia in August, 2014. He has also toured Australia in 2011, 2007, 2003, 2001, 1998, 1992, 1986, 1978 and 1966.

The current Dylan band is Bob on piano, Tony Garnier on bass, George Recile on drums, Stu Kimball on rhythm guitar, Charlie Sexton on lead guitar and Donnie Herron on violin, banjo, mandolin, pedal steel and lap steel (we assume not all at the same time).

The Dylan setlist is never a greatest hits. Instead Bob tends to steer his songs through his current musical thoughts. His most recent albums are 2012’s ‘Tempest’, one of his best albums ever and his trilogy of standards from 2015, 2016 and 2017. Songs from the recent albums make up eight of a 20 song setlist.

Dylan’s most recent show was in Verona, Italy. More than half of the songs from Dylan’s are from albums released in the 21st century.

Four of the 20 songs are from the 60s, two come from the 70’s classic ‘Blood On The Tracks’, there is nothing from the 80s and the 90s is represented by the Grammy Award comeback ‘Time Out Of Mind’.
