Sir Cliff Richard is heading to Nashville in April to record an album of classic rock and roll songs and he is singing a lot of those songs on his current Australia tour.

During his performance last night at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, Sir Cliff talked about how no-one buys records anymore (well his anyway) so now when he goes into the recording studio he goes to create a project.

A few years back he paid tribute to soul music with the soul project ‘Soulicious’. In 2006 he made the duets record ‘Two’s Company’. His next album will be a collection of songs first recorded at the birth of the rock and roll era.

Some of the songs that will be included on the album are ‘Poetry In Motion’, ‘Sealed With A Kiss’ and ‘Dream Lover’ and they are all featured in his current setlist.

Cliff Richard was one-year out of school and just 18-years old when he had his first big hit with ‘Summer Holiday’. The year was 1958.

He often recorded with The Shadows who reformed in 2009 for their 50th Anniversary. He said they will reform again “for our 100th anniversary”.

Cliff Richard is one of Britain’s biggest ever pop stars. At age 72, it is now 55 years since that first hit record and he is still giving the fans a 2 and a half show each night.

Remaining dates for Cliff Richard in Australia for Paul Dainty are:

February 16, 18, 19, Melbourne, Hamer Hall
February 21, Adelaide, Entertainment Centre
February 23, Perth, Sandalford Winery
