Common Man Keith Richards Jousts With Sir Mick Jagger

Keith Richards has always enjoyed partaking in a good ‘joust’ with Mick Jagger.

The Rolling Stones rockers have been in the band together since 1962.

They have become like brothers over the years and Keith, 71, finds getting into arguments with Mick, 72, entertaining.

‘Mick and I joust with each other all the time. From my end, it’s never been a fight. Mick’s a control freak,’ Keith told MOJO magazine.

‘It’s necessary for him to believe he’s ‘numero uno so most of the time I go along with it ‘ unless I think he’s making a really wrong decision affecting the Stones.

‘We enjoy jousting, I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes and jot down a line ‘ ‘I’ll save that one for him’.’

Despite their somewhat antagonistic relationship, Keith emphasised the men have lots of love for each other and are still ‘mates’ at the end of the day.

Keith has developed an infamous reputation for being an insatiable drug user over the past few decades. He was tried for drug-related charges five times and has previously revealed he quit using cocaine for good in 2006.

But the star is still an avid fan of marijuana and he is happy many states in the US, including Colorado, have legalised cannabis use.

‘I smoke regularly, an early morning joint. Strictly Californian,’ Keith shared. ‘One of the most pleasant things to watch is a map of America [showing States where cannabis is legal ], where it goes, green… green… green.

“Whether it’s a good thing in the long run, I don’t know.’
