‘Countdown: Do Yourself A Favour’ was the fourth most watched program in Australia on Sunday, registered 965,000 viewers nationwide.

The Countdown special marked the 40th anniversary of the iconic Australian music program that debuted on Australian television on November 8, 1974.

While the show never achieved the score an appearance from Prince, it did once manage a guest spot from Prince Charles.

The first part of the two part ‘Countdown: Do Yourself A Favour’ specials focused on the 70s and featured some footage from the very first show that was thought to be lost.

Show one featured an all-Australian line-up with performances by Skyhooks ‘Living In The 70s’, Sherbet ‘Silvery Moon’, Daryl Braithwaite solo with ‘You’re My World’ and Linda George ‘Mama’s Little Girl’.

Part 2 of Countdown: Do Yourself A Favour will screen on the ABC on Sunday, November 23 at 7:40pm.
