Daryl Braithwaite On The Road To Recovery After Tumour Removed

Daryl Braithwaite expects to return to active duty next weekend following his operation for the removal of a “golf ball size tumour”.

Daryl had been in hospital before the start of the Red Hot Summer tour in Mulwala in January and checked himself out of hospital the day before the tour was due to begin. It was a bad decision.

At the end of Daryl’s performance on January 7 he was rushed back to hospital following complications from the strain he put on his body after the operation. That has meant he has had to miss all of the Red Hot Summer show through until yesterday in Port Macquarie but he is out of hospital now and expects to return to the tour next weekend (February 11) in Mt Gambier.

In a Facebook post on Saturday Daryl updated fans about his condition:

Saturday 4 February 2017 : 3:44 pm
Good afternoon

On December 5th last year, I had an operation to remove a benign golf ball size tumour from my abdomen along with my spleen.

Since then I have been back to Hospital 3 times because of the infection, the last visit was 16 days, after which I came home last Wednesday.

I am making a good recovery on oral antibiotics and look forward to playing at Mt Gambier and The St Kilda Festival next weekend.

My sincere thanks to my Family and friends and my Band members and tech crew who have been very patient and understanding, along with all the phone calls, text messages, flowers and emails I received from fellow musicians and music industry people.

Also thanks to the many get well wishes that I received from supporters on Facebook and by hand written cards.

My thanks to all the nursing staff, radiologists, orderlies, food suppliers and Doctors at Cabrini Hospital Malvern who made me feel well.
Last but not least….. Thanks to James Reyne for his friendship, support and wisdom… I think he now likes “The Horses”
Sincere thanks .…. Daryl x

The Black Sorrows filled in for Daryl at the Mornington Shows, Ross Wilson performed for Daryl in Ballarat last weekend and Jon Stevens filled the spot in Part Macquarie in Saturday.

Why Queen’s Quietest Member John Deacon Chose to Become a Recluse Until This Rare Return

For fans of Queen, John Deacon has long been the enigma of the band, a brilliant musician, masterful songwriter, and humble presence behind the scenes. Since the early 1990s, Deacon has shunned the spotlight, retiring quietly after Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991. But now, years later, he has quietly resurfaced, lending his signature alongside bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May on a charity auction item, signalling, perhaps, that even the most private of souls can still make their mark in unexpected ways.
