Dave Faulkner To Perform Songs Of The Victims As The Television Addicts

by Paul Cashmere on February 1, 2015

in Live,News

Dave Faulkner is taking his pre-Hoodoo Gurus band The Victims on a victory lap across east coast Australia.

The Victims were a Perth band circa 1977.

Dave Faulkner, who was called Dave Flick back them, and James Baker were a Perth punk band playing mostly original songs. The Victims recorded two records, the single Television Addict’ and ‘The Victims’ E.P. ‘Television Addict’ was later covered by You Am I and Sweden’s The Hellacoptors.

Most of the songs performed by The Victims were never officially recorded but a Japanese live album ‘Sleeping Dogs Lie’ featuring nine of their unrecorded songs is in existence.

In 2014, Faulkner and Baker performed a one-off show in Perth performing the entire repertoire of The Victims.

“It was with a little bit of trepidation that we took the stage that night in August at The Rosemount Hotel, playing under the name The Television Addicts,” Faulkner said at the Hoodoo Gurus Facebook page. “Would we damage the band’s reputation? Would those old songs still hold up today? I’m happy to say all those fears were groundless because everyone there that night was beaming afterwards. The Victims legacy remained untarnished – perhaps even burnished a little brighter?

“James, Ray and I are about to do it again, or as the old showbiz saying goes, “One more time, with feeling!” We’re playing for ONE NIGHT ONLY in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.”

The Television Addicts performing songs by The Victims dates

February 12, Melbourne, The Reverence Hotel Footscray
February 13, Sydney, Newtown Social Club
February 14, Brisbane, Prince of Wales, Nundah
