The second series of hipster sketch comedy Portlandia is coming to US screens early in the new year and they’ve booked a slew of guest appearances from indie rock royalty.

Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse, and singer/harpist Joanna Newsom will appear as guests on the show.

Portlandia already has solid rock and comedy credentials, being created by and starring Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstien of Sleater Kinney and now Wild Flag.

The show lovingly mocks the city of Portland, Oregon and its stuck-in-the-grunge-era inhabitants.

The first season had a slew of guests, both musical (Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan, Jenny Conlee and Colin Meloy from the Decemberists, James Mercer from The Shins, Corin Tucker from Sleater Kinney) and from Hollywood (Heather Graham, Selma Blair, Steve Buscemi, Gus Van Sant, Kyle McLachlan, Jason Sudeikis).

Check out a sample from the first season below.
