The 25-year-old British singer recently released her second album, Halcyon, and is enjoying success on both sides of the Atlantic.

But she tells MTV News as they promote their latest scripted series, Underemployed, that she had it rough before becoming successful.

‘Well I grew up in a village and down the road was a pub called the Royal George and I used to clean the toilets,’ she revealed of her unglamorous job. ‘Men’s toilets, mainly.’

Meanwhile music superstar Bruno Mars says he tried a different part of the industry before getting his record deal, but things didn’t turn out so well.

‘I was 18-years-old. The worst job I ever had was I applied to be a DJ at the mall at the Beverly Center,’ Bruno recalled.

‘So I showed up to the Beverly Center with my friend’s records and I broke their record player.’

NSYNC’s Lance Bass also revealed that he had to dress up as Poo Fu the Dog at his local mall in Mississippi ‘but the worst thing about it was inside the suit it was like 120 degrees and I would just sweat my ass off every day,’ he overshared.
