To many Laurie is best-known on your TV screen as Dr. Geoffrey House in the hit TV series House. The role earned him two Golden Globe awards, two Screen Actors Guild awards and six Emmy nominations.

But way before Hugh was an actor, he was a musician. He started piano lessons at age 6 and now also plays drums, guitar, saxophone and harmonica. Hugh’s debut album ‘Let Them Talk’, released in 2011, reached no. 16 in the USA and no. 2 in the UK.

Laurie was a guest pianist on Meat Loaf’s ‘Hang Cool Teddy Bear’ album. He was also seen in Kate Bush’s ‘Experiment IV’ music video playing the part of a scientist.

Hugh’s new album ‘Didn’t It Rain’ takes him musically into the American heartland. Songs include the early ‘St Louis Blues (W.C. Handy) and ‘I Hate A Man Like You’ (Jelly Roll Morton), as well as the more contemporary ‘Wild Honey’ (Dr. John) and ‘Changes’ (Alan Price).

‘Didn’t It Rain’ was produced by Joe Henry and recorded at Ocean Way Studio in Los Angeles in January, 2013. It features a guest appearance from Taj Mahal on the Little Brother Montgomery’s track ‘Vicksburg Blues’.

“I have resolved to forge on, deeper into the forest of American music that has enchanted me since I was a small boy,” explains Laurie. “And the further I go, the more bewitched I become – both by the songs and by the people I have been lucky enough to play them with.”

The tracklisting for ‘Didn’t It Rain’ is:

The St Louis Blues
Junkers Blues
Kiss Of Fire
Vicksburg Blues
The Weed Smoker’s Dream
Wild Honey
Send Me To The ‘Lectric Chair
Evenin’
Didn’t It Rain
Careless Love
One For My Baby

Changes

Hugh Laurie: Didn’t It Rain will be released in Australia on May 10, 2013 through Warner Music Entertainment.
