The tour that was due to start in May and then postponed to June is now cancelled because of health issues relating to drummer Gary Whelan.

A statement at promoter Kill Rock Star Big Dog Entertainment’s website states:

It is with regret that KRBD Entertainment announces that the Australian tour for Happy Mondays, which was previously rescheduled for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, has now been cancelled by the band’s management citing medical issues with drummer Gary Whelan.

While details remain hazy, a mutually agreeable solution could not be found to rescue the tour. Happy Mondays management officially cancelled the tour over the weekend.

KRBD would like to apologise to all fans and ticket holders for any inconvenience caused. Patrons who purchased tickets via credit card will be automatically refunded and do not need to do take any action. Patrons who purchased tickets with cash at an outlet need to return their tickets to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Happy Mondays were due to start the rescheduled Australian show in Western Australia on June 5.
