Hoodoo Gurus To Play One Last Be My Guru Show With Mark Kingsmill

Hoodoo Gurus drummer of 31 years formerly retired from the band last weekend at Red Hot Summer in Ballarat followed by a secret show Sunday at Airies Inlet but he will be back for one more.

Kingsmill will join Hoodoo Gurus for one last bash behind the drums for the Vivid Live festival in Sydney in May. The show will be a Be My Guru Hoodoo Gurus show featuring all members past and present.

Dave Faulkner has announced at the Hoodoo Gurus Facebook page, “today we are very happy to be able to announce one additional, VERY SPECIAL SHOW with Mark and it will be happening in THE HEART OF SYDNEY this time. None of our recent run of shows have come anywhere near the Harbour City, which was the band’s birthplace and where we all live, doncha know?!”

Faulkner also said that this will not only be Mark’s last show with the band, it will be the last Be My Guru show ever as well. “THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME BE MY GURU WILL EVER HAPPEN,” he yelled. “Why? Because it’s too expensive and difficult to get everyone together in one place. If VIVID hadn’t “come to the party” financially this time we couldn’t have managed it!. We probably won’t make a cracker ourselves but we’ll sure have a lot of fun – and so will you if you come”.

The show will reunite past members for an all-star send-off. “I can’t think of a better way to farewell Mark than with this concert,” Dave said. “It will also be a great celebration of our other past members: Rod, Kimble, James and Clyde. Brad, Rick and I will probably steal a bow or two on the night, I’m sure. Every one of us has a lot to be proud of about our collective history, this strange thing that we’ve done with our lives called the HOODOO GURUS.

“So there you have it, BE MY GURU: THE EVOLUTION REVOLUTION, a light and sound spectacular, will be at the Powerhouse Museum on SAT 23 MAY as part of the VIVID FESTIVAL 2015.

“I hope that puts a smile on your face”.

Hoodoo Gurus are expected to announce their new drummer soon and introduce him at the event. Dave tells Noise11 that it is “not someone you will necessarily know but he does fit the sound of the band”.

Hoodoo Gurus will commence work on a 10th studio album as soon as their new drummer settles in.
