Ignatius Jones receives Officer of the Order of Australia

The work of Ignatius Jones, one time frontman for Jimmy & The Boys and contributor to major Australian events including the 2000 Olympics and Sydney Mardi Gras Parade, has been recognised in the Australia Day Honours list with a Officer of the Order of Australia award.

Ignatius Jones is the artistic director for Vivid Sydney. He has held the position since 2011. He has been Artistic Director for Sydney’s New Years Eve celebrations and for the Olympics created the events for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Sydney 2000.

As frontman for Jimmy & The Boys, Iggy had his first hit with a cover of The Kinks ‘I’m Not Like Everybody Else’ in 1979. In 1981, ‘They Won’t Let My Girlfriend Talk To Me’ (written by Tim Finn) was a Top 10 hit.
