Janet Jackson has confirmed that she will release her first album since 2008 this year.
Although so far untitled, the album will coincide with the announcement of a world tour.
In a video statement Janet said, “I promised you would hear it from my lips and here it is. This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.
Janet Jackson’s last studio album was ‘Discipline’ in 2010. While the album debuted at no 1 in the USA, it quickly fell from the chart and failed to pass Gold certification for 500,000 sales, selling 446,000 copies. In Australia ‘Discipline’ peaked at no 16, it the UK it only managed to get as high as no. 63.
Janet Jackson has released 10 albums. The biggest ‘Rhythm Nation 1814’ sold 8.5 million in the USA and worldwide more than 20 million albums.
