Jimmy Barnes is the Red Hot in Red Hot Summer. In 2009 Jimmy released his tribute to the music of the deep south of the USA, ‘The Rhythm and the Blues’. The lead track from that was a cover of Billy Lee Riley’s ‘Red Hot’.

Red Hot Summer founder Duane McDonald tells how it came about:

Jimmy Barnes is the Red Hot Summer Tour. Nine ago he released an album Red Hot , and with his agent Frank Stivala came up with an idea of playing in tourist areas regionally throughout the January holiday season. That year we went to six locations with Jimmy Barnes, Shannon Noll and Adam Brand on the bill. A massive learning curve but we pulled it off and The Red Hot Summer Tour was born. Fast forward nine years and here we are touring the country for 27 shows this year. Jimmy has headlined 6 of the past 9 years which is incredible. This year he has taken his show to a whole new level. The production, sound and lighting is unbelievable and he has so much passion on stage it resonates through every patron. Jimmy is playing some new songs from his forthcoming album My Criminal Record, and punters are thrilled with it. I pinch myself after every show to think how lucky I am to be working with these artists and musicians on the tour.

Red Hot Summer 2019 has gelled with the dynamic of the Barnes band preceded by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts preceded by The Living End. The series one 2019 line-up is delivering anthem after anthem.
