Kanye and rap mogul Russell Simmons have dropped in to check out the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Billboard reports that the two rap superstars and their bodyguards sat down with protesters around 2pm yesterday.

Simmons tweeted afterwards, “I just walked @kanyewest thru the #occupywallstreet. I love how sweet and tolerant he was to the crowd”.

Kanye didn’t perform for the crowds, unlike Talib Kweli and Jeff Magnum of Neutral Milk Hotel did last week.

Mark Bray, working as part of the Occupy Wall Street press team, told Billboard, “We prefer that we can somehow incorporate people into what we’re doing”.

“If Kanye West walks through, or whoever walks through, I think it would be mutually beneficial if he has something to say… but ultimately we’re not trying to make things rigid.”
