Katy Perry Lends Voice To Save Sydney’s Luna Park

Katy Perry is urging authorities in Sydney, Australia to help save an iconic amusement park after finally getting the opportunity to visit the tourist attraction.

Katy Perry is nearing the end of her Witness: The Tour trek, and over the weekend, she treated her crew members to a day of fun at the historic Luna Park Sydney.

Katy took to Instagram on Monday to share photos from the day out, during which she and her pals rode roller coasters and bumper cars, and posed for silly snaps, including one in front of the themepark’s famous clown mouth entrance.

In the caption, the Roar singer revealed she had always longed to visit Luna Park, but had never found the time until this weekend.

“One of my favorite moments on this leg was being able to FINALLY visit @LunaParkSydney and bring my tour,” she wrote. “I have looked out the window of my various hotel rooms for over 10 years dreaming about this place, the rainbow of glittering color in the middle of mundane grey business buildings… it looked like it was frozen in time, a simpler time. I love that it feels like you’re taking a time machine back to an authentic, incredibly preserved, corporate free, fun factory!”

However, Katy reveals she was saddened to learn of Luna Park’s possible closure due to a legal battle between developers and owners

“I heard they (local officials) are trying to destroy it and so I just wanna post that this smiling face (entrance) has kept me smiling from across the water for over a decade… please don’t take my smile away!” she pleaded, as she encouraged her fans to join her in campaigning to “#savelunapark”.

Katy will wrap up her tour in Auckland, New Zealand on Tuesday (21Aug18), and to commemorate the concerts, she has added a new tattoo to her collection of skin art.

“I have 3 different tour tattoos: a strawberry, a peppermint, and a prism triangle,” she told fans online last week, before sharing a snap of herself in a chair as she got her latest ink on the inside of her right wrist, courtesy of celebrity artist Dr. Woo, who created a planetary-themed image for Katy.

“The end of tour tattoo tradition continues with #4 by the gentle precisionist @_dr_woo_,” she captioned the picture.

“The planet in the middle is Saturn as this journey has taught me many lessons with a few tears along the way BUT I am happy to report a sense of real resilience as we wrap. I share this insignia with 45 other tour mates and moreover an incredible year of memories with over 100 beautiful & kind humans and a numerous amount of gracious attendees #2moretogo #WitnessTheTour #Resilient”.
