Leo Sayer was driven to write a Christmas song that makes you think. ‘Coming Home For Christmas’, is a charity song for the troops stationed overseas during the holiday period.

“It’s a song about a soldier coming home from the Afghanistan frontline but wishing his mates could join him,” he tells Noise11.com. “It’s not necessarily about Aussies, Brits, or US guys, it’s generally about all who serve there”.

Leo wrote the song after Australian department chain Myer asked him to contribute a song to their Christmas album. “I read some of the guys stories and they really moved me, so when Myer invited me to appear on their project I penned this and recorded it with my band in Melbourne,” he says. “I’m giving away all the UK single proceeds to the charity Help For Heroes. It’s out in Australia on the ‘Spirit Of Christmas’ album”.

The song was recorded at Pony Music Studio in Hallam, Victoria. Leo Sayer produced the track, recorded by Damien Young and mixed by John Hudson and featuring Mark Kennedy (drums), James Gillard (bass), Bill Risby (keyboards) and Paul Berton (guitars).

Leo will perform the song live at Myer’s Christmas Extravaganza in Bourke St Mall on the morning of Saturday, November 19.

Why Queen’s Quietest Member John Deacon Chose to Become a Recluse Until This Rare Return

For fans of Queen, John Deacon has long been the enigma of the band, a brilliant musician, masterful songwriter, and humble presence behind the scenes. Since the early 1990s, Deacon has shunned the spotlight, retiring quietly after Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991. But now, years later, he has quietly resurfaced, lending his signature alongside bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May on a charity auction item, signalling, perhaps, that even the most private of souls can still make their mark in unexpected ways.
