Meat Loaf said late last year that he was touring to “bid a final goodbye” to his fans with The Last Bat Tour. Some took him seriously while some thought it was a bit of grandstanding.

The singer confirmed his original stance recently when he said, “This is really it … I just don’t want to travel anymore. I outweigh Jagger by about 100 pounds and that counts for something. He hasn’t seen the wear and tear.”

Of course, it’s the smart person who leaves just a little out for the future. He said there was always the possibility of becoming yet another performer to make the Las Vegas stage their home.

Meat Loaf is currently working on his first album with Jim Steinman, the man who was responsible for so many of the singer’s hits, since 1993’s Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell. Brave and Crazy will be his thirteenth studio album.

Leo Sayer Shares His Thoughts on The Passing of Sly Stone

There really is a riot going on right now, so what a poignant moment it seems to be to lose a hero I never met, yet a man I often imagined as my soul brother. I worked with many of his alumni (including the man who helped invent him, fellow San Fran disk jockey Tom Donahue), and to say they and he inspired me would be a useless understatement.
