James Blunt has not quit music as reported by that bastion of credibility the Daily Mail.

Blunt was cornered by a writer from the Daily Mail at the opening of Barbarella in London this week and as a joke told him “I just want to take some time out for myself. I haven’t got any plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa.”

Not only did the Daily Mail managed to translate that into the headline “To be Blunt it’s time for me to retire, says James’ and equally credible (and lazy) sites around the world reported it as fact.

James Blunt was enjoying a few drinks with his girlfriend Sophia at the function when he was cornered by the journo.

James obviously thinks the whole incident is funny. He has been tweeting links about the story.

This isn’t the first time a false James Blunt story has done the round. In May this year he was killed off in an internet hoax.
