Nick Barker will perform Neil Young’s 1975 classic album ‘Tonight’s The Night’ album from start to finish to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the album.

Barker will perform with The Studio Instrument Rentals featuring Michael Barclay (Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls) on drums, Michael Hubbard (Spencer P Jones & The Escape Committee) on guitar, Grant Cummerford (Matt Walker and Jeff Lang) on bass, Shane Reilly (Tex Perkins) on pedal steel guitar and Bruce Haymes (Renee Geyer) on keyboards.

‘Tonight’s The Night’ was the sixth solo album for Neil Young. The album was an expression of grief created by Young following the death of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten and roadie Bruce Berry both from drug overdoses in the months leading into recording the album. Whitten died in November, 1972, Berry, the brother of Jan Berry of Jan & Dean, died in June 1973.

‘Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown’ was co-written with Whitten in 1970.
