Paul McCartney Compares Kanye West To John Lennon

Paul McCartney has pointed out the similarities of writing with Kanye West and writing with the late John Lennon.

McCartney and West have had a two-day marathon writing session and the former Beatle told the U.K.’s Sun that “When I wrote with John, he would sit down with a guitar. I would sit down. We’d ping-pong till we had a song. It was like that.”

According to McCartney, the pair had an agreement going into the session that, if McCartney didn’t like the result, they would scrap the songs, shake hands and part friends.

The pair initially just sat and talked but a story that McCartney told about his mother coming to him in a dream that led to the song Let It Be sparked West’s imagination and thoughts about his late mother. The result was the song Only One, the first collaboration between the two artists released to the public. They later released the song All Day along with the hit FourFiveSeconds with Rihanna.
