More than 300,000 tickets sold in six days for Powderfinger’s original 26-date Australian tour have prompted a final run of shows, with Hobart and Canberra finally included, extra Melbourne and Perth dates and two outdoor concerts in Brisbane to close the tour.

Powderfinger have expanded their 2027 Australian reunion tour with a final Encore Run, adding nine performances across November and December after unprecedented demand saw more than 300,000 tickets sell in just six days. The additional shows take the band to Hobart and Canberra for the first time on this tour, increase the number of performances in Melbourne and Perth, and bring the entire journey to a close with two outdoor concerts in their hometown of Brisbane.

The original 26-date tour sold out across every city, leaving thousands of fans without tickets. The response has prompted Bernard Fanning, Darren Middleton, Ian Haug, John Collins and Jon Coghill to extend their return to the stage with what the band describe as their final additional locations for 2027.

“When we saw how many people missed out on tickets, we knew we couldn’t leave it there,” Bernard Fanning said on behalf of the group.

“So we’re adding some final shows and we’ve been able to include dates in Hobart and Canberra, which we’re really excited about. We also have some very talented mates joining us. Thank you for keeping the faith and for being so patient. We can’t wait to see you out there. Love BF xx.”

The announcement is particularly significant for Tasmania and the ACT, which were not included in the original tour schedule. Hobart will receive two performances at Cornelian Bay Oval on 13 and 14 November, while Canberra gets a single show at Stage 88 on 4 December.

Melbourne receives two further nights at Melbourne Park Oval on 5 and 6 November, returning to the large-scale outdoor setting that will accommodate the continuing demand for tickets. Perth also gets two additional performances at Sandalford Estate on 20 and 21 November.

Brisbane will provide the final chapter. Powderfinger will play two outdoor shows at Brisbane Showgrounds on 10 and 11 December, bringing the tour to a close in the city where the band formed and established themselves before becoming one of Australia’s most successful rock acts.

The Brisbane concerts will have a festival-style presentation, with different Australian support line-ups across the two nights. The final performance on 11 December has been positioned as a celebration of the band’s Brisbane origins.

The supporting artists across the Encore Run represent a substantial cross-section of Australian music. The Melbourne dates feature Something For Kate and The Belair Lip Bombs, while Hobart gets DMA’S, Thelma Plum and Full Flower Moon Band on the first night, followed by John Butler Trio, The Preatures and Luca Brasi on the second.

Perth’s two nights feature Ocean Alley, with Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Carla Geneve joining the first show, and South Summit and Banjo Lucia appearing on the second.

Canberra’s December performance brings together Violent Soho, Something For Kate and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers.

Brisbane’s opening night features The Living End, You Am I and Special Features. The closing show adds Violent Soho, Ball Park Music, Thelma Plum and Full Flower Moon Band.

The original 26 sold-out performances will have their own support announcements, with those line-ups still being finalised.

Powderfinger are also continuing their partnership with Mission Australia throughout the tour. The initiative will raise funds and awareness for the organisation’s work supporting people experiencing homelessness, family violence, mental health challenges and financial hardship. Further information about the fundraising program will be announced.

Fans in Tasmania and the ACT who purchased tickets to other cities will have the opportunity to request refunds if they subsequently secure tickets to their local Encore Run performance. Further details will be provided when the additional shows go on sale.

Adelaide remains the notable omission from the expanded schedule. No additional South Australian performance has been confirmed, although the band have acknowledged the city in response to fans asking about further dates.

Pre-sales for the Encore Run begin Wednesday 4 November through registration at Powderfinger’s official website, with general public tickets available from Thursday 5 November.

All performances are all-ages events. Patrons under 18 must attend with a responsible adult aged 18 or over, who must also hold a valid ticket. It is recommended that patrons aged 14 and under purchase seated or rear general admission tickets where available.

The Encore Run completes the announced locations for Powderfinger’s 2027 touring return. After the original comeback announcement generated extraordinary interest, the speed at which the first 26 shows sold out has turned the reunion into one of the major Australian live music events of the year.

For fans in Hobart and Canberra, the new announcement finally provides an opportunity to see the band without travelling interstate. For Brisbane, the December performances offer a fitting homecoming, with Powderfinger finishing their national return where their story began.
