Qantas Ejects Kate Ceberano From Lounge For Wearing ‘Inappropriate Footwear’

Australian singer Kate Ceberano was gobsmacked after being ejected from the Qantas Lounge for wearing “inappropriate footwear’.

Kate has not only been a member of the Qantas Club for 25 years, Her version of ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ was recorded for a Qantas television commercial.

Kate posted to fans on Facebook, “Disappointed to be evicted from the Qantas Lounge after being a member since 1990 for wearing ‘inappropriate footwear’? hahaha (new rules)”.

She also supplied a photo of her “inappropriate foorwear”.

According to the Qantas Club conditions of entry:

“Our lounge is a place where you can sit back and relax before your flight. To ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, please follow our smart casual dress guidelines when entering our Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney Qantas Clubs or Business Lounges. Our team will decline entry if some items of clothing are too casual or inappropriate. This includes bare feet, thongs, beachwear and clothing with offensive images or slogans. Eligible visitors wearing uniforms are still permitted access, and this includes hi-vis work wear. See the terms and conditions of lounge access for more information”.

With the temperature in Melbourne forecast to be hottest October day ever on record to call the Qantas ruling ludicrous is an understatement.

It hasn’t been Kate’s week. After a superb performance of the Australian National Anthem at the AFL Grand Final on Saturday the audience went wild after Kate fluffed one line. Luckily for Kate, import popstar Ellie Goulding stuffed up the entire start of her song, quickly taking the focus of Kate’s almost unnoticeable faux-pas.
