Queen To Release Two Historic Concerts

Queen will release two 1974 concerts in their entirety on CD and DVD soon.

A show from Queen’s first headlining tour of the U.K. from March 31, 1974, along with a second show from November of the same year, are chronicled on the upcoming Live at the Rainbow ’74, a multi-format set due on September 9 from Hollywood Records.

The tour followed their series of shows supporting Mott the Hoople where critics said that they were the highlight of the evening. Their star was rising and they had just made their debut on Top of the Pops performing their single Seven Seas of Rhye and had released the album Queen II, yet many said they were not ready yet to play the Rainbow. They couldn’t have been more wrong.

That March show was recorded by Roy Thomas Baker, who also produced the group’s first four albums, with the intention of showcasing the band’s sizzling live show as their third release, but Queen’s creative momentum was so strong that they, instead, chose to go back in the studio to produce Sheer Heart Attack in its place.

The November show came after the release of the third album and the number 1 hit Killer Queen, providing even more material and excitement for the crowd.

The new set will be put out in a variety of formats:
– Two-CDs with one show on each disc
– Two-LPs with the March show and highlights from the November show
DVD of the November show with four bonus tracks from the March show
– SD Blu-Ray of the November show with four bonus tracks from the March show
– SD Blu-Ray / CD combo pack
– Digital Download

Unreleased Queen Song Not For Sale (Polar Bear) To Surface On 2026 Queen II Reissue

Queen have once again opened the vaults, with Brian May confirming that an unreleased track titled Not For Sale (Polar Bear) will finally receive an official release as part of a major 2026 reissue of Queen II. The song, shared publicly for the first time in a rough, work-in-progress form late last year, predates the formation of Queen itself and reaches back to the band's earliest creative roots.

Queen Mark 50 Years Of A Night At The Opera

Queen's A Night At The Opera marks its 50th anniversary with the same impact it carried on release in November 1975. The album arrived during a crisis for the band, who were close to collapse due to a punishing contract and limited funds. They had earned hits with Sheer Heart Attack yet lived on tight weekly payments. Brian May lived in a bedsit. Freddie Mercury lived in a damp flat in Kensington. John Deacon was denied a modest loan to buy a house. The frustration led to the band parting ways with Trident and moving to EMI, a decision that would change their future.

The Royal Mint has unveiled a new collectible coin that celebrates the life and legacy of Freddie Mercury, the legendary Queen frontman whose voice and theatrical presence reshaped rock music. The announcement arrives at a significant moment for fans, marking forty years since Queen delivered their historic Live Aid performance in July 1985, a concert still regarded as one of the most powerful moments in music history. The coin also honours the fortieth anniversary of Mercury's first solo studio album, Mr. Bad Guy, which showed the world another side of his creativity and marked a bold step outside the Queen catalogue.

Why Queen’s Quietest Member John Deacon Chose to Become a Recluse Until This Rare Return

For fans of Queen, John Deacon has long been the enigma of the band, a brilliant musician, masterful songwriter, and humble presence behind the scenes. Since the early 1990s, Deacon has shunned the spotlight, retiring quietly after Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991. But now, years later, he has quietly resurfaced, lending his signature alongside bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May on a charity auction item, signalling, perhaps, that even the most private of souls can still make their mark in unexpected ways.
