Radiohead will return to Australia in May and June 2027 for their first Australian concerts in 15 years, with 16 arena shows announced for Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Radiohead have confirmed their long-awaited return to Australia, announcing 16 shows across Perth, Melbourne and Sydney in May and June 2027. The tour will begin with four performances at RAC Arena in Perth on Monday 3 May and conclude with a sixth Sydney show at Afterpay Arena on Tuesday 1 June. The announcement follows the band’s return to live performance in Europe in late 2025 after a lengthy touring hiatus.
The Australian dates mark Radiohead’s first visit to the country since 2012, making the 2027 tour a significant return for one of the most influential British bands of the past four decades.
The five-piece formed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, in 1985 and comprises Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway. Their catalogue spans nine studio albums, from Pablo Honey in 1993 through to A Moon Shaped Pool in 2016.
The Australian concerts follow a series of European residencies in November and December 2025. Radiohead had been largely inactive as a touring band before those performances, while individual members pursued solo projects and other musical work. The band had not released a new studio album since A Moon Shaped Pool.
Radiohead’s Australian return comes with a charitable component. A $2 donation will be included in each ticket price, with funds directed to Greenpeace Australia Pacific and the Australian Marine Conservation Society. Radiohead will match the total amount raised through the ticket contribution.
The timing also places the tour in the context of Radiohead’s unusually long recording and touring history. Following the success of OK Computer in 1997, the band repeatedly shifted its musical direction rather than settling into a fixed sound. Kid A in 2000 introduced a substantially greater role for electronic music, programmed rhythms, jazz and classical influences, while Amnesiac in 2001 drew from the same recording sessions.
Hail to the Thief followed in 2003 before Radiohead separated themselves from the conventional major-label album cycle. In Rainbows was self-released digitally in 2007 through a pay-what-you-want model, becoming one of the most closely examined alternative approaches to album distribution of its era. The King of Limbs followed in 2011, built around extensive sampling and looping.
The final album in the current Radiohead studio catalogue, A Moon Shaped Pool, was released digitally in May 2016, with physical editions following in June through XL Recordings. The album featured prominent orchestral arrangements by Jonny Greenwood and became Radiohead’s sixth UK number one album.
The band’s catalogue has remained commercially significant despite the long gaps between albums and tours. Radiohead had sold more than 30 million albums worldwide as of 2011 and have received six Grammy Awards. Their move away from EMI and towards greater control over their recordings also became an important chapter in the band’s business history, with their back catalogue ultimately transferred to XL Recordings in 2016.
For Australian fans, the immediate issue is access rather than new recorded material. No new Radiohead album has been announced as part of the Australian tour details supplied for 2027. The confirmed programme is the band’s first Australian live run since 2012 and follows their European return in 2025.
