Robbie Williams To Record With Dame Shirley Bassey

Robbie Williams is planning a return to the pop charts with a little help from veteran singer Shirley Bassey.

Reports suggest one of the big songs on his new album will be a duet with the Welsh wonder who recorded the classic James Bond themes Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.

Basement Jaxx and grime star Big Narstie will also appear on the track, according to The Sun.

Narstie, real name Tyrone Blik Lindo, thought the initial call to join Robbie in the studio was a prank.

“I got a call saying Robbie wanted to do a song with me and Shirley,” he tells the publication. “I went to the studio and Robbie was sitting there in his tracksuit.

“It’s going to shock the world. Shirley is on the track, Basement Jaxx have made it. It’s mental. The song is sick.”

And Robbie returned the favour by joining Big Narstie in the studio to record a track for his debut album, which is scheduled for release later this year (16).

“I was like, ‘If I bang your thing, will you bang my thing? Will you sing on my album?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, of course’,” the rapper recalls. “So I’ve got Robbie Williams on my album. Robbie Williams on grime.”

Robbie’s new album will be his first since 2013’s chart-topper Swing Both Ways.

The Bassey track isn’t his first collaboration with a diva – he has also recorded with Kylie Minogue and had a huge hit with Nicole Kidman when the actress joined him to record a campy cover of Frank and Nancy Sinatra’s classic Something Stupid.

Meanwhile, Bassey enjoyed chart success in 1998 with her Propellerheads collaboration History Repeating.
