Sia, Lorde Nominated For Golden Globe Award

Australia’s Sia and New Zealand’s Lorde have both been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for 2015.

Sia and Lorde will compete with each other for Best Original Song. Sia wrote ‘Opportunity’ for the movie Annie and Lorde recorded ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe Award nominations were announced on Thursday morning with a number of veteran musicians also being recognised in the Song and Score categories.

Patti Smith is up for Best Original Song for her Mercy Is from the film Noah while Common received a nod with his writing partner John Legend for Glory from the film Selma.

Big Eyes – Lana Del Rey (from Big Eyes)
Mercy Is – Patti Smith (from Noah)
Opportunity – Sia (from Annie)
Yellow Flicker Beat – Lorde (from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1)

Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails, and Atticus Ross return to the Best Score category where they won four years ago for The Social Network with their score for the movie Gone Girl.
