Smashing Pumpkins Lose Another Two Members

Even though Billy Corgan insists they were never really members of Smashing Pumpkins, it looks like the revolving door of members for the group has claimed two more victims.

Bass player Mark Stoermer (the Killers) and drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine) are no longer with Smashing Pumpkins. Stoermer and Wilk joined the band last November to play on the tour supporting their latest album, Monuments to An Elegy.

Robin Diaz, who spent 2010 to 2014 playing drums for Daughtry, will join along with singer/songwriter Katie Cole from Australia on bass. Cole will be the opening act for the Pumpkins upcoming acoustic tour along with playing with the headliners.

Corgan said of the changes “No one’s been ‘given the boot’ from the band. Mark and Brad actually did more dates than we’d originally discussed. Love them both. And I’ve said it in 50 interviews now, there is no fixed lineup for SP. It’s a tour-to-tour thing. Get it? Got it? Good.”

It is unclear if Diaz and Cole will stay with the group post-acoustic tour when they go on the road with Marilyn Manson from July 7 to August 8.
